Working primarily with pastels, and occasionally with oils, I have always had a strong desire to render the beauty of the human form. Although I occasionally represent the figure in a definable space, most of the time I focus in on portions of the body, attempting to capture the sensuality of light and shadow as it caresses the form. This macro view, in part, lends a certain mystery, as the figures are separated from their environments, removing the context. My intent is to suggest, not define. I prefer not to define or narrate, but hope to evoke a response from the viewer, whether that response is emotional or intellectual.
